Beyond Baptism

Beyond Baptism is a new ministry here at St. Clare of Assisi Parish. Under the direction of our Pastor, Father David Grover, and the Office of Faith Formation and with the help of a dedicated volunteer, Bridget Perrotto, Beyond Baptism is meant to bridge the gap between Baptism and First Eucharist, helping families form parish relationships at the time of their child’s baptism and provide help and direction for the family as they pass on the gift of faith to their children.

Shortly after Baptism, families receive a welcome email and letter, followed by letters and materials during the year. As the primary religious educators of their children, parents will be provided guidance and support with faith resources, information about childhood development and suggestions to help the parents form their children in the faith. Families will also receive seasonal updates about the parish and invitations to parish gatherings. They will be encouraged to become active in parish ministry and share their God-given talents and gifts. The parish, through the Beyond Baptism ministry, fills the gap between baptism and the next sacrament of initiation, transforming families and parish from strangers to companions on the journey. We are excited to say announce that we have launched this ministry with the mailing of the first of welcome letters to families whose children were baptized from January to June of this year!  We can use your help! Something about the Beyond Baptism ministry representative:

“My name is Bridget Perrotto and I live here in Woolwich Township with my husband, Brian and my two children, James and Emma.  We have been members of St. Clare of Assisi Parish since we moved here four years ago from the Philadelphia area.  When we moved here I was looking for a way to get involved in the parish and saw that Religious Education teachers were needed.  I have enjoyed working with the Office of Faith Formation and have taught classes and retreats as well as worked in the office.  I am honored to be helping to start the new Beyond Baptism Ministry for our parish’s families.  It will be a great resource for families with young children who are not yet in the Religious Education Program or Catholic School.”

“For it was you who formed my inward parts; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; that I know very well. My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately woven in the depths of the earth. Your eyes beheld my unformed substance. In your book were written all the days that were formed for me, when none of them as yet existed.” (Psalm 139: 13-16)
