Parish Improvements with Simon Ministry
Our maintenance staff and Simon Ministry, along with keeping up with regular maintenance issues, are in the process of creating an inventory of each of the buildings of our parish. As you can imagine, with eleven buildings, there is a great deal of maintenance issues that need attention. Here are some of the projects that have either been recently completed or are in process:
à Gibbstown Rectory – Leaking boiler replaced, rotted flooring replaced, mold/asbestos remediation. (Partial insurance claim, operating expense)
à St. Joseph Church – Bat remediation/cleaning, ceiling repair. (Operating expense)
à Parish Hall – Window replacements. (Catholic Strong project)
à Paulsboro Convent – Plumbing, Electrical, HVAC upgrades. (Operating expense)
à Guardian Angels School (Gibbstown)- Converted boiler to gas (SJG Direct Install Loan Program)
à Guardian Angels School (Paulsboro) – Replace AC units (Direct Install Program, operating expense)
The following are projects that we know will need attention as soon as possible:
à Roofing/flashing on all our buildings need attention.
à Upgrade/Conversion of oil furnaces to gas.
à Painting both churches and parish hall.
à Exterior lighting improvements.
à Concrete repair/replacement in multiple locations.
As you can see, we have a tremendous amount of work ahead of us. If you are a skilled tradesman and would be interested in volunteering with our Simon Ministry to help with the many projects we have, either in planning or execution, please contact Simon Ministry through the parish office.
